Committees
The Surgery Interest Group (SIG) is organized into four core committees, each playing a unique role in fostering growth, collaboration, and professional development among medical students.


1. Academic Activities Committee (AAC)
Represented by the vibrant and bold Mustard Gold, symbolizing knowledge, growth, and the pursuit of academic excellence.
AAC is dedicated to promoting surgical knowledge and skills through educational initiatives. The team organizes workshops, seminars, and lecture series to introduce students to core surgical techniques and concepts. Examples of activities, include but not limited to, suturing workshops, clinical case discussions, surgical skills training.
Besides attending events, members can volunteer as workshop assistants, content creators, or event organizers. You can also submit your own proposal for a project you would like us to work on.
2. Community Activities Committee (CAC)
Embodied by the refreshing and lively Emerald Green, reflecting community engagement and health promotion.
This committee is responsible for building bridges between medical students and the wider community, raising awareness about surgical health, and promoting public health initiatives. Health awareness campaigns, community service projects, medical outreach programs are few of what type of activities CAC is concerned with.
3. Research Activities Committee (RAC)
Symbolized by the elegant and creative Orchid Purple, capturing the innovative spirit and dedication to surgical research.
Focused on fostering a research-oriented mindset, the RAC empowers students to engage in academic research, critical analysis, and scientific writing. Activities within the scope of RAC include Journal clubs, research mentorship programs, conference presentations.
All members are eligible to apply and partake in our research activities. Members and non-members can advertise tasks, workshops, and other research opportunities which can viewed by enthusiasts on our Research page and other social media platforms.
4. Public Relations Committee (PRC)
Marked by the regal and authoritative Royal Blue, showcasing their role in communication and representation.
The PR Committee handles the communication and branding of SIG, ensuring the group’s achievements and initiatives are visible to both members and the public. This committee often often work on managing social media channels, designing promotional materials, engaging with partners and sponsors.
